Magical Valley, Part 3
Dear Valued Friend,
And with that, let’s step into a beautiful, magical world in this painting.
Magical Valley, Part 3
Today, we take up where we left off last time on the commissioned oil painting and finish it up. You can check out Magical Valley, Part 1, and Magical Valley, Part 2, to see how we got to this point.
I have also uploaded a short, time lapse video that shows the creation of the painting from start to finish. Lots of details are included at the end of the blog so you can really see the painting, up close.

Sky
I was just starting to paint in the sky.
The sky is blocked into the negative space in and around the trees. Lighter trees are painted in the background to give the illusion of distance. I love to leave glimmers of red that sparkle and vibrate against the green that make the painting come alive.
Finally, I start adding the vertical trees which helps give dimension to the painting.
Here’s where I start painting in the flowers. The flowers on the distant hill are a bit duller, smaller, and less detail.
More red poppies are painted and tiny center yellow details added to the ones in the foreground. I paint in more leaves, covering some of the poppies and then pulling the flowers back out on top. This helps give the illusion of depth and movement. More vertical foxgloves are added.
I keep working up deeper and deeper layers of paint until I am satisfied. Usually at this point, I am having so much fun seeing it all come together, I don’t want to stop painting. Great restraint is needed to STOP before I go too far.
Final Painting
Framed
The painting is framed in a 4 1/2″ wide, dark wood with gold trim, plein air style, museum frame.
Packed and Ready to Go Home
I use lots of stretch wrap and bubble wrap along with corner pieces to carefully wrap the frame of the painting for the journey to it’s new home. While I offer free shipping or delivery, my collectors opted to pick up the painting at my studio/gallery here in Brown County. So, I pack it to make sure it arrives safely to their home.
Details
So, that’s it for this gorgeous, commissioned, oil painting. Thanks so much for following along on the journey.
Courses and Blogs
I am thinking about creating some online courses in addition to the blogs and am wondering if there is anything you might be interested in? Some ideas include painting classes(foundational to more advanced), plein air painting, color, using artwork and other techniques to raise your vibrational frequency(and increase health, wealth, and happiness), art and feng shui, decorating and selecting artwork, tools and gear, POD, and art marketing for artists. I’m open to hear about any other areas of interest you would like to hear more about. Let me know by responding to this email or leaving a comment about what topic(s) you would like to see me cover.
Happy trails!
Love,
Charlene
